Whimsy and wordplay are the order of the day in this imaginative musical adaptation of a favorite of generations of children, adults and psychoanalysts! A fabulous family holiday show!

The Terrace Playhouse is an amateur community theater provided by the US Forces stationed overseas. We provide a full schedule of theater related programs, concerts and special events for service members and their families, civilians, and their invited guests in and around the Ansbach area.

We produce five main stage productions each year. Our productions have consistently won awards at the USAREUR One Act Play Festival and the USAREUR Tournament of Plays, and participated at the international festival in Dundalk Ireland. The Terrace Playhouse was presented with the Secretary of the Army's "Irving Berlin Award" for outstanding Entertainment Branch in the world.

A staff of one, volunteers form the backbone of our program. The Terrace Playhouse provides an opportunity for military and civilian community members and their families to develop and maintain their skills in all aspects of the performing arts while providing the Ansbach Community with a wide variety of high-quality live performances. We also provide a valuable link in German/American relations and friendship with the participation and involvement of German and other European nationals.

The Terrace Playhouse is one of the regions most comfortable performing arts facilities. Audience members are seated four to a table, with candlelight. If there's a large turn-out, the audience is then seated in rows comfortably. The lobby bar is open before and after each show and during intermission, serving soft drinks, cappucino, coffee, tea, wine and beer.

We offer a PRESCHOOL CREATIVE DRAMA PROGRAM which is an interactive parent/child activity. This program is free and meets on Friday mornings from 10:00 am - 11:00 am.

The Terrace Playhouse is host to the local level "Battle of the Bands" and "Stars of Tomorrow" Entertainment Contests. We also host a variety of DOD/USO Shows.

The Terrace Playhouse is also available for private events at a nominal fee.

Battle of the Bands, Stars of Tomorrow

We host the 98th ASG level "Battle of the Bands" and "Stars of Tomorrow" Entertainment Contest, and participate in the USAREUR level competitions and DA level competitions.

We host a variety of DOD/USO Shows. Past concerts and shows hosted were Tracy Lawrence, Mc Lyte, Temptations, WWF wrestlers, LA Lakers Cheerleaders, and other various performers.

Preschool Drama / Community Programs

Preschool Creative Drama Time

The Preschool Creative Drama Class is a free parent and child interactive and directed playtime. We make extensive use of movement, music and the imagination. The class gives children up to 5 years their first taste of theater and gives parents a guided playtime with their child. The class follows a structure that begins with a warm-up for the body and the imagination, followed by an imagination exercise that ties into the theme of the day. Next we make a theatrical craft (mask, puppet, costume, etc) and then perform with it. The class closes with a cool-down and a bow. Preschool Creative Drama is an excellent chance for parents and children to explore their creativity together.

Preschool Story Hour sessions include stories and crafts every Wednesday morning, 10:00 - 11:00 at the Ansbach Library, and every Tuesday at 3:00 PM at the Illesheim Library.
